Tunnels and trolls
So here is the color version of Tunnels and Trolls. The book is a spin off of Dungeons and Dragons in a humor campaign setting. Don't quote me on this as I've never played it. It has a bit more old school comic look to it, not sure how this happened. I just bounce back and forth in types of styles depending on what time frame and how many characters are in the scene. I find this type of look is one of the quickest to pull off when your dealing with lots of characters in a short time frame.

watercolor brush
So I love painter for the look of the organic brushes...but hate the pixels it crops when you work in anything but 100 percent. So I find I tend to stay with photoshop and work on the 25/50/100 so I get an accurate depiction of the artwork. The trouble I find in Photoshop though is the ability to pick up colors and drag along with the brush tip. I will have to do some watercolors in a bit for a project and lat night I was playing around with trying to get an organic brush for watercolors.. here is my palette.

Birthday
So today is my birthday and I thought I would update the blog with a present to you. I'm sick of them after 30 years, I find it much nice to give then receive. Not that I'm a nice guy or anything I just hate when you unwrap a gift and you look with horror at what it is, while trying to convey a look of pure joy and happiness on your face. I fail miserably at this.

AoI_wash
Here we are in time for the weekend. I was rusty on my coloring, well infact I was rusty on my sketch to so I did some minor corrections to both and we have the wash!
I thought I was done at an earlier stage and started to go into details, big waste of time that was... not sure if anyone else gets that feeling that "oh some detail work will help the realism of the piece" It didn't. All it did was after the 3hrs of painting it upclose I zoomed out and wondered what this garbage was. I then proceeded to paint in thumbnail mode only... staying in my sketch lines was not an option. I needed to get the colors and tones working then I can go back and worry if its an arm or a leg that I'm painting. So after some laying down of layers and adjustments we have the wash.

A secret door
Greetings all,
I did this scketch up as a rough for a book involving a secret door, a book, and a demon. Just thought I'd share. I love going from children's books to high fantasy to sci-fi. You never end up getting bored doing the same thing. Hope everyone's March is starting off good and spring will be on us soon.

Test via Kobolds
So here is an update, I've been doing some Backgrounds which sadly I'm not allow to show. But good news I can show another test I did to get some more creature work coming my way. The test was for Nival working on a Russian MMO comming out in a few years. The test was for the small sometimes over looked, mischievous rat-like creature we call a kobold. There are many takes on this creature , here is mine that I sent in...
